Micah 7:7

Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

What do we do when the enemies assail, and when the circumstances batter us? What shall we do when there are fightings and fears without and within? What shall we do when no answer is forthcoming, and the solution to all things is hidden as a deep mystery? We shall look unto the Lord! Look unto Him! For in Him we shall find our answers and our solutions. In Him we shall find that He is worth waiting for. In Him we shall find that He is ready to save us. He is the God of our salvation! Israel could say that He was the God of their salvation, and no less can we proclaim it. For He it is that has saved and delivered us, and we must look to Him again, and to Him alone for new and fresh salvation.

Here Amos, again in great straits for his people and heritage, says, “Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation.” I will wait for the God of my salvation! I will wait! Will you wait? If we will just wait on the Lord and not hurry and rush, all things will in their time be made as plain as the noonday. You may say, “I don’t understand how there could anything good come from the situation I am in.” “I do not see how there is any hope, any way, any sign of relief or resolution.” Oh, my dear friend, there is one command to you. Wait on the Lord! For then you shall renew your strength and mount up with wings as eagles. But this comes after we have laid it all on Him and looked to Him. The great apostle says, “If we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” Let us look unto the Lord our God, and wait for Him!

The last and greatest encouragement of this verse is the final statement. My God will hear me! Has a load just been lifted off your back? Have you, like the pilgrim, thrown off your burden? Does it not feel thrilling and exhilarating to have all weights and encumbrances once and for all cast away? For you see! We know the Lord hears us! This is how we can wait with courage and strength. For we know that He hears the righteous, and will attend unto our prayers. Are you having a hard time waiting on God? It is because you are looking to other things rather than to God Himself, or it is because you, as I, have a difficult time with patience! This truth will help you—that while you wait, He is hearing you. Keep praying, keep seeking, and do so without ceasing. And then, one day, your faith shall become sight. For He has heard all your prayers. Wait for the God of your salvation!

“Heavenly Father, we thank you for lifting our hearts to a higher plane of help and courage just by giving us the much-needed reminder that you are hearing us while we wait. Let us not be weary in our importunity, but to pray without ceasing, trusting you to hear us. You are the God of our salvation! So let us wait on Thee alone, for all our expectation is only from Thee! And we praise you for this, in Christ’s name, Amen.”

This a timely reminder for me. It never ceases to amaze me how patient the Lord is when He gives us these reminders. It has helped me be more “gentle” with my loved ones as I continue to pray and that in turn keeps me more at peace instead of being anxious.
