Revelation 7:17

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Praise God! Is there a greater promise anywhere? Is there a more consoling statement to be found in all of Holy Scripture? This great company that John saw from all nations, kindreds, people, and tongues, standing before the throne, had come out of great tribulation. They had washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb! They would live with the Savior forever. They would serve Him in His temple. But the greatest blessing of all is what God would do for every one of them. He would feed them, and lead them unto living fountains of waters. Oh, to be fed by the Lamb Himself! Oh, to drink of that living water that comes from God Himself, never to thirst again. Oh, to have all thirst removed! And all hunger! For it says here, “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more.” All hunger and thirst will eternally be eradicated.

But then! But then, we have the great promise—God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes! All tears! There will never be a drop shed again! It shall be only perfect bliss and never-ending joy. It shall be a state of ecstasy and felicity never felt before. It shall be unbroken, unhindered, and unmarred. There shall no wicked thing stain the purity of that land. There shall no impurity spot that beautiful country. Nothing shall stem the joy. The happiness shall continue for all of our eternal existence. Never shall there be a disappointment; never a sorrow; never a rejection; never a heartache. Take heart, my dear one, for this is the promise to the believer. This is the longing of our hearts, and it shall be made a reality by God. If you could imagine the best moment conceivable on earth, multiply that infinitely, and venture on an imagination of what the heavenly city may be like. We desire a better country, that is, an heavenly. This little life is only temporary. It is quickly to fade and flee. And we shall enter our eternal home. We experience real grief now, and must deal with it, and encourage others who are traversing the paths of grief and heartache. But let us remember, it is soon to change. Sooner than we may understand, all shall be well. What a glorious day it shall be!

“Father, how we praise you for this most exquisite and wonderful and glorious promise. Our hearts hunger for this new home. No more hunger or thirst, no more sorrow or sighing, and no more pain. We praise you that this has been promised us. Therefore, let not our hearts be troubled, Lord, for this is all ours to be given to us very soon. May we remain joyous even today in anticipation of the realization of this promise. May we not be consumed with too much grief here, because all grief will one day be no more. And we praise and thank you for this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

And there sure have been a LOT of tears this week. Thank you for this. And yes, what a glorious day, indeed.
