Acts 1:7

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Jesus, after He had risen again, spent many days with His disciples. In fact, He was seen of them forty days, speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. He showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs. They saw Him! In the flesh they had fellowship with Him! They spent time with the risen Savior! And while together with Him, they had a question for Him. They knew that He had come to save His people, and they knew that Israel had a special place in the kingdom of God. Therefore they asked, “Wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” They wanted to know His timeline, His order of events, what they could expect. They wanted to know when everything would be made right. They wanted to know exactly how all things would play out. They asked, “Is it time yet? When will this happen?” And Jesus responds to them with, “It is not for you to know.” For the Father has put the times and the seasons in His own power! The times! The seasons! Everything is to fall into place in His time. For look! It must happen at the right season! It is not time yet! Only when the Father chooses shall everything coalesce and form His perfect plan.

You see, my beloved, this is always so. The times and the seasons are in His power. We would love to know. You and I want to know the timeline. We want to be sure all the crooked ways shall be made straight, and we want to know when the rough places shall be made plain. We would like to be reassured by the Lord when all this will happen! But the Lord says, “It is not for you to know.” Heed the words of our Lord today, and leave the timing and the changing of seasons in the hands of the skillful Master. He shall handle it all. His timing shall be revealed when it is ripe. He shall do all things in His time. It is not for you to know! Rest in Him! Trust in Him! And remain busy about the Father’s business till all things are actualized. And then, we shall know, the time and the season was just perfect, and it was all as it ought to have been.

“Dear Lord, thank you for the great message you have given us through your words that you gave your disciples. May we always remember that there are certain things that we are not to know. It belongs not to our care! It is in Thy hand! And may we leave it there, not concerning with it, or questioning it, but trusting only in our loving God. We thank you for these things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

It is human nature to want to know when God is going to answer a prayer; when Jesus is going to come back to this earth; and reasons why He allows certain things to happen. But we have to learn to wait upon the Lord; He is never late and He has a reason for everything that happens. Patience is a virtue and I am a little short on it but I certainly believe we are in the latter days and Jesus could come back at any time. I have to keep reminding myself to “Be still and know that I am God”. His timing is not our timing. I know we are to be witnessing for the Lord to the lost, including or especially our loved ones. Lord, please give me the courage and wisdom to know who, when and where to do what you have told us to do. Thank you Pastor Coleman for these wonderful daily blogs.
