Matthew 9:29
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
According to your faith! Everything in our lives is inextricably connected to our faith. The portion of blessing we receive is in direct proportion to our faith. It is all according to our faith. These two blind men came to Jesus, desiring to be healed. And Jesus asked them, “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” And there resounding answer was, “Yea, Lord.” Do you believe? That is the question? Do you just ask, hoping? Or do you ask, believing? In the chapter, time and again, we hear the same sentiment issued forth by Christ. To the woman who touched the hem of His garment He said, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.” Often in the gospel records, we hear our Lord saying this same thing: “According to your faith,” and “if thou canst believe,” and “thy faith hath saved thee.” Our forgiveness and cleansing and healing is all connected to our faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, and we can therefore have no salvation otherwise. But why should any of us think we can get along one day without faith? Do you want God’s blessing? You should! It is always according to your faith.
Now, my friend and brother in the Lord, I simply leave you this morning with a ponderous question. How is your faith? Every blessing you receive and every victory you experience shall be associated directly and proportionately to your faith life. If your faith is lacking, so shall everything else be. If your faith is anchored unshakenly and steadily in the Lord, then you shall see great things done for you. Otherwise, it shall be a perpetual struggle. According to your faith be it unto thee. Believe in the Lord! Trust in Him! Doubt Him not! Know that He shall work all things out! Know that without Him you can do nothing! Know that faith is not negotiable, not optional, not elective. It is essential, necessary, fundamental to the Christian life. It shall be unto you according to your faith!
“Dear Father, with this brief reminder today, we are greatly challenged through Your holy Word that we must be men and women of faith. The greater our faith in You is, the greater everything else will be. It will be an even ratio, a just balance, and an equal proportion. Where our faith is lacking, we say with the disciples, ‘Lord, increase our faith!’ And may we see You do mighty things according to our faith. May it grow stronger with each day, and may it be anchored in Thy everlasting goodness and love and promises more and more with each passing day. Strengthen our faith, we pray, and we eagerly anticipate the results that shall come from that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
