Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

What a glorious day it was when the child was born, and the Son was given. We celebrate with joy and gratitude that day that changed all days. For when did a virgin ever conceive a child? When was nature ever defied in this way—that a man would be born of a virgin? And more than this was the mighty truth about who was conceived. It was not any ordinary man. In was not a man like all others, indeed, He was like none other. For this man was born as the Son of the Highest. He was the only begotten Son of God come down to earth, and His name was called Emmanuel.

Emmanuel! What does it mean? It means “God with us.” The most unprecedented and incredible thing about the birth of Christ is that, although Christ Jesus was born as a man, He was more than a man. He was God made flesh, dwelling among us. It was God tabernacling with mankind. God with us! And ever since that beautiful mourn, God has never left us. For you see! God is still with us in the Person of His Son, through the presence of His Holy Spirit. God is still with us, and God is with you! Be reminded of this today, dear brother or sister. As you go about the day that God has given you, and as you enjoy festivities, and family, and friends, remember that the most fondest truth that we celebrate is not the gifts, but the God of the gifts. Because, when you sincerely and seriously ponder the matter, you will find that the gift that God gave that day was God. He gave His Son—God with us!

“Dear Father, how we praise You that You sent Your Son, Emmanuel, to show us that You are with us. Through Your Son, we have no fear of ever being forsaken again. We can say, “Thou art with us.” And may this truth ever be in the foremost compartment of our minds, and may we be constantly aware of it this day. May we sing and praise Emmanuel, for God came down to be with lowly man. We praise You for this and pray all these things in the lovely name of our Emmanuel, Jesus Christ, Amen.”
