Zechariah 11:11
And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
The poor of the flock that waited on me! Are you waiting on the Lord? Have you found that He is your refuge and He is your stay and He is your hope? For you see, the poor are always the ones that lose confidence in their own ways and means. They find that their resources are inadequate, insufficient, and unable to procure their own salvation and help. Therefore, they look to the Lord! Who are you looking to today? Have you found that all is in the Lord? If you have found this, then just wait on Him. This means that we are to trust in Him, rely on Him, and patiently look for Him to work all things for our good and His glory. For look! When we wait on the Lord, then we shall know when it happens that it is the word of the Lord.
We shall know! Yes, we shall truly know! We will surely be confident on that day when the Lord brings it all to pass that it was the word of the Lord. We will be persuaded that the Lord did it—that He was the One who made a way when the way was unclear and ambiguous. God will bring to light the hidden things of darkness if we will just wait on Him. And, let me also assure you of this: that sometimes the waiting and the darkness and the obscurity is needed so that when light bursts forth, the way will be even clearer. It shall be crystal clear when the Lord breaks through. It shall be as the noonday sun. But the more we wait on Him, the more it shall be made known without a doubt that it is from the Lord. We shall know that it is the word of the Lord. Let us, beloved, wait on the Lord, trusting fully in Him, for then and only then shall we have certainty when the Lord reveals His work and His will.
“Father, we are all impatient creatures. But may we, from this day and forward, keep our trust in You for all those things for which we are waiting. You shall make it clear, and we are sure of that. May we then have unquestioning certainty that it is from the Lord, and that You have aligned and organized it all. We look to Thee today! In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.”
