Zechariah 8:23

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

We know that Zechariah the prophet spoke to Israel of great future events. In particular, it seems clear that many of his prophecies have their fulfillment in the millennial reign of Christ on earth. Therefore, they are mostly given to the Jewish people. But, as we all know and understand, the promises of God in Him are “yea,” and “Amen” unto the glory of God by us. Therefore, we do not pass them over just because they were not originally intended for you and me. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable…” Let us keep this in mind when reading these wonderful Old Testament Scriptures, and let us allow the Lord to speak peace and comfort to our hearts.

For you see! What a glorious promise the Lord gives here that all nations will come to Jerusalem in that great day to worship the Lord. The Old Testament prophets declare this in unanimity. Many nations and peoples will say, “Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.” They will seek after the Lord in Jerusalem! They will go after the Lord. They will seek Him speedily! Should we not do the same? Should we not immediately and wholeheartedly and quickly seek after the Lord? The nations of the world, during Christ’s reign on earth, will know where they are to go to find the Lord. And therefore they will converse with one another saying, “Let us go speedily!” Dear friends, let us go speedily to the house of the Lord, or to our closet, or to our bedroom, or wherever we must go, that we may speedily seek the Lord! For He shall be found of us, if we will seek Him with all our hearts.

But why will all nations take the skirt of him that is a Jew? Why will ten nations and languages grab onto one man of Israel? Because they will be able to discern one thing. There is one thing they will be able to decipher—one thing they can ascertain. And that is that God is with them! They will say, “We want to go with you, because God is with you!” God is with you! Think of it! Can others say this of you? Does your life exhibit and demonstrate the presence of the Lord about you? Does your life bring comfort to others, because if they can just take hold of you, you will bring them to the Lord? May this be abundantly true of all of God’s people that have read these wonderful words of life today. May others look to you this day, not for your glory or honor, and not because of something special in you by your own power. But may they look to you because they can see and determine visibly and clearly that God is with you!

“Father, we praise you for these glorious promises that were given to your people. For after all, we are the people of God! We once were no people, but are now called the children of God! We praise you for this! And even if we are not a Jew by birth and ethnicity, we praise you that this same truth that will be visibly and tangibly discernible in the Jews of the millennium can be present in us today—this great quality of God’s evident presence with us. May others truly detect this day that you are with us, because we are with you. Let us walk with you, and may others know that we will bring them to the Savior, for you truly are with us. And we praise you for this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
