Zechariah 14:20

In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

In that most wonderful day, the day of the Lord’s reign upon this earth, there shall be one component present in the land. There shall be a ruling virtue! And that virtue is holiness. And moreover, holiness into the LORD of hosts. All shall be holy. The Lord Himself shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem, and shall demand and require holiness from all the peoples of the earth. They shall come up to worship Him, and if they do not, great and severe and dire consequences shall await them. Holiness shall be the law and rule of the land. And it will be a most wonderful time. The devil, as the book of Revelation explains, shall be banished to the bottomless pit during the millennial reign of Christ, and therefore the devilish, evil, ungodly influence which he now holds over this world, will be put on hold. He can deceive the nations no more till the thousand years are accomplished! We praise the Lord for this! Therefore, there will be no formidable obstacles to the holy reign of Jesus Christ.

Holiness unto the LORD! It shall be written upon the bells of the horses in that day. And holiness shall be so pervasive that every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord. The pots in the Lord’s house shall be as the bowls before the altar. That is to say, every common utensil that may be used in the temple by the common people shall be as holy as those which the priests alone could touch. All shall be equal. No one will be barred from the implementation of sacrifice. Everything shall be consecrated, including those who come to the house of the Lord. The Canaanite shall not be therein, which means that the heathen round about will no longer pollute God’s house, for all shall be holy. The heathen that came against Jerusalem will have already been destroyed. Therefore, there shall be abundance of holiness. It will be common in those days. Just as evil, and hate, and sin, and war, and immorality seem to be the rule of the day now, so holiness, and goodness, and righteousness, and truth shall be the rule of that day. How we long for it!

And now, dear Christian, as we go into the house of the Lord, let us think of it as a consecrated place, a place of holiness unto the Lord. Let us lay aside sin and uncleanness, and be consecrated to Him. This is the purpose of the Lord’s House. There is a fountain for sin and uncleanness. It is the fountain filled with blood. Let us be cleansed by Christ today, and be consecrated before His altar. We may boldly enter in! We may boldly approach His presence! Let us today do so with holiness unto the Lord.

“Father, help us this day to enter into your house with thanksgiving and into your courts with praise. But may we enter in with holiness unto the Lord. Consecrate, we pray, our minds and hearts, even now, that we may be holy unto Thee. May all things be holy in your house. May the filth and degradation of sin not mar your wonderful house. We surrender ourselves to you as we approach you this day through the blood of Christ. And we pray these things in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our Savior, Amen.”
