Daniel 7:18
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
Many kingdoms shall arise out of the earth. History tells the tale of the Medes and Persians, of the Grecians, and of the Romans. It tells of the rise and fall of great empires, as the Mayans and Ottomans, and many others. And these demagogs have come and gone. They have come to great authority and power, they have been great tyrants over their people: but they have not lasted. They have been destroyed almost as quickly as they came to power. Italy, Germany, Japan, and others have shown dominion in recent days. North Korea, Iran, and Russia are present day regimes, some on the possible verge of soon collapse. But these are all earthly kingdoms. They only last a short time! They are fleeting and transient! They only last as long as the king or his dynasty retain their iron grip. But there shall come another kingdom one day. One day! And it shall be an everlasting kingdom! One that shall not be destroyed! And one that shall be ruled by the saints! The enemy of Christ, the Antichrist himself, will rise to power in the end times, but his dominion shall only be forty and two months. After that, he shall be destroyed, and the saints shall take over the kingdom.
Hallelujah for this coming day! When the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom! And they shall posses it! Even for ever and ever! They shall physically rule with their Commander, the Lord Jesus, for one thousand years on earth. But that shall only be the prelude to the great eternal kingdom that they shall possess. For ever and ever! Anything happening on this earth is for only a short time. A day is coming where there will be no earthly kingdoms, but God’s saints shall rule forever. Be encouraged this day by this most wonderful promise. The kingdom shall be yours! Christ is on the head of it. He is the Son of man! Indeed, He is the Ancient of days, who shall have all dominion, and rule, and power. He is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. And we shall rule with Him. What a consoling and felicitous thought! What joy it brings! Rejoice in this great truth today!
“Father, we praise you that all earthly kingdoms will find their end one day. We will not have to be subject to their rule for eternity. We shall be under your rule, and we shall reign with you! Keep our eyes on the great future awaiting us, and on the eternal abode and kingdom of all saints. We eagerly wait for this. And let us, in the meantime, submit to your rule in our hearts daily, that we may be counted worthy to reign with you on that great day. And we shall praise you for these things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
