Revelation 19:11
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
There is no scene in all the Bible like the scene of the second coming of Christ. We now have been given a glimpse into what this coming will look like. He shall come in great power and glory. He will be seated upon a white horse, and His eyes shall be as a flame of fire. A sword shall proceed out of His mouth, by which He shall smite and rule the nations. His vesture is dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And here we see “the armies which were in heaven” following Him upon white horses. These are the saints made new! They are clothed in “fine linen, white and clean.” All dirt and impurities shall be forever removed. This is an eternal state of righteousness and purity! And all the saints in Heaven come back to earth with Christ when He comes to rule with a rod of iron.
But there is one mighty statement on which we may focus our mind. His name! What is He called? He is called here The Word of God; He also has a name written, that no man knew, but He himself. And He is called KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. But there is another name that He is called which speaks of His great character. He is called Faithful and True! Yes, He is faithful! Yes, He is true! These two attributes stand out head and shoulders above others when we ponder the character of the Son of God. He is always faithful. And as you know Christ, you will discover this truth every day—each morning, noon, and night. New mercies you shall see each day. You shall find that He is always faithful to His promises. His promise to save you. His promise to send the Comforter. His promise to be with you unto the end of the world. His promise to love you, guide you, and work all things for your good. He is faithful!
And He is true! In fact, He is the way, the truth, and the life. Everything that comes from Him is utter and absolute and complete truth. There is no spot, no guile, no imperfection in His words. They are true and righteous, just as His judgments are. He is eternally relevant to the needs of mankind, because He is eternal truth. He cannot be doubted, questioned, or debated. His cause cannot be thrown to the ground, and the truth of His gospel shall stand for ever. He is true! Praise God that He is true! Our Savior, dear friends, is faithful and true. Now, you have one responsibility, and that is to imitate His character. Be faithful to others today! Be true with others today. And most of all, be faithful and true with the Lord today! Be faithful to His will and calling, and be true to everything you have committed unto Him. He will never fail us; let us never fail Him.
“Dear Lord, we praise you that you are always faithful to us. May we never take this for granted, but seek to always be faithful to you and your will. And you are the embodiment of truth. Help us this day to be honest and truthful people, always adhering to and clinging to the wonderful truth of God, that has been revealed in Christ. Give us your character today. Conform us to the image of your Son. We pray and ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
