Psalm 37:4-5

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

What are the desires of your heart? God gives us great desires. He gives us desires for things that He desires to fulfill in us. He works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. But, do you delight in the Lord? We often delight only in the desire. Our minds and our hearts are consumed only with what we desire, and not the ultimate object of all desire—which must be the Lord. We ought to desire Him above all else. He ought to be the chief desire, the fulfillment of all our wants. And when He is that to us, there can be no doubt that our desires will come into conformity with His desires.

Here He has assured us, that, as our minds and hearts remained stayed on that one object of our desires, the Lord, then we shall see our personal desires and wants fulfilled. Whatever we desire, as it aligns with His perfect will, shall be granted! In time, it shall come to pass! Worry not over this, for the Lord shall bring it to fruition! It shall happen! We must simply commit our way unto Him, and trust also in Him. And please notice that this great psalm asserts that He shall bring it to pass! Do you see? You shall not bring it to pass. You know not how to accomplish it. You are at His reckoning and beckoning. Only God can do it! But be certain today, that if you commit it to Him, He shall bring it to pass. Wait patiently for Him, for His plan is in the making. He is working all for your good, so that your desires may be fulfilled. Do not lose the desire. Do not let it wane from discouragement. Let it be strengthened, and let it be committed more to Him each day. And if you’ll trust in Him by committing it completely to His hands, He alone shall bring it to pass!

“Father, we thank you for filling our hearts in these few moments with the encouragement that we needed. Many of us have desires, and we often wonder if those desires will ever become reality. We do not know if our frail faith will ever become sight. But this day, our faith has been bolstered, and our hearts greatly warmed, as we think on these promises. May we delight in you every day, and as we delight in you, and commit all to you, and trust in you, we know that the desires will be granted. Let us not be weary in waiting, but strong in faith, giving glory to God. And all these things we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
