1 Corinthians 15:54

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

One of the most exhilarating truths in the Christian life, and perhaps the most exhilarating of all, is the truth that this corruptible body in which we are now confined shall be laid aside in exchange for a glorious body. For we shall be changed! This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality! We shall no longer be subject to the deathly and sin-marred existence to which we are now slaves. God promised that He would swallow up death in victory! See Isaiah 25. And this victory is found through our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of His death and resurrection, He made a way that we also may have eternal life through our own resurrection from the dead, when we are changed from corruptible to incorruptible, and from mortal to immortal, and from natural to spiritual. This body which is sown in weakness shall be raised in power. This glory-less body shall be turned into a glorious body. Our hope is in this! Therefore, the Lord says, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”

O death, where is thy sting! Death is swallowed up in victory! Christ has become victorious, and so shall we also. For He conquered, He defeated, He shall subdue all enemies under Him forever. And the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death! It shall be swallowed up! And we shall never experience it again. The Christian may have everlasting hope and consolation through this promise. He shall wipe away tears from off all faces. They shall be forever wiped away. All sorrow, crying, and pain shall be no more. And this is only through the work of our Savior. Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Dearly beloved, today, as every other day also, is a day of rejoicing. You have victory! You have hope! You have a Savior! You have a celestial home, a heavenly city awaiting! Death has been swallowed up in victory. And, because Christ has wrought this victory, we equally have the victory. Praise God!

“Dear Lord, we praise you that you have already won the battle ahead of us. The victory has been clinched, and there is no more battle to fight. With you, we have victory. Death is swallowed up, and sin will soon be gone. Satan himself shall soon be bruised under our feet. And we praise you for these things with all of our hearts. May we meditate on this today, contemplating what we have in Christ. And let us thereby greatly rejoice! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
