1 Corinthians 4:1-2

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

God has called us as stewards. We are stewards of invaluable possessions. Possessions that are eternal, and do not belong to the world. They are the mysteries of God! God’s mysteries have been revealed to us in His Word. Those things which the world does not know are freely known to us, because the hidden things have been vouchsafed to His children. And we are stewards of His mysteries. A steward must care for the things of others. If you have been given, if you have received the mysteries of God, you must be a faithful steward of those mysteries. For it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful!

It is a requirement for a steward! You cannot properly call yourself a steward if you are not faithful with what God has given you. Think of all He has given! Think of the understanding, the knowledge, and the experience! Your testimony! Your acceptance of Christ’s gospel, and the transformation it has effected! Think of everything in the Word of God that has been made available to you at the very tips of your fingers. You have the greatest knowledge in the universe! The most wonderful truths have been committed and entrusted to your care! What are you doing with those truths? Have they been passed on to others? Those things which God has allocated to you, have you appropriated the use of them to other people? It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful! Are you faithful with all God has so graciously transferred to you, with the expectation that you would steward those things? Let us be faithful. For we are His stewards. Let us all be good stewards today of the grace and truth that Christ our Savior has endowed to us and bestowed on us. In light of this, what will you do with your stewardship today?

“Dear Father, we thank you that you have entrusted to us the eternal truths of the everlasting gospel of God. The heavenly gifts are ours! We are stewards of the greatest things of all! Let us this day be faithful with what you have given us, serving you, giving the gospel, teaching by our life and works, and fulfilling your heavenly calling on our lives. Please remind us of this, and assist us with this task today. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
