Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
The most wondrous thing about the Christian life is that it is full of life. New life. The life of Christ! For Christ liveth in me! I have life in Him and through Him, for the very source of life dwells within me. And this all begins with the death to self, sin, and the flesh. Christ was crucified for us on the cross, and therefore we must also be crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed. We must also experience a death. A death to ourselves, a death to our sin, and a death to our old nature. This death is experience through the death and burial of Christ. But we understand that Jesus Christ arose from the grave to new life. And this is to serve as a picture, a demonstration, a symbol of the newness of life that we experience in Christ and through Christ. Therefore this great paradoxical statement is of utmost truth: I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live!
Yet not I, but Christ! The life I have has not been produced, manufactured, or gendered by me. It comes from Christ! Christ liveth in me! Therefore I have life! We will continue to live this life in the flesh, and this is the life which I now live. But how will we live this life in fullness and in joy and in newness of life? It will come by living our lives by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave Himself for us. Every thing must be done through our faith in Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. All power comes from Him, all strength, indeed all life comes from the Giver of life. He loved us and gave Himself for us, therefore we live through His power alone.
Remember dear friend, this day, that Christ liveth in you. If you need strength, power, or grace, it will come from the One who dwells within us. It will not come from the flesh, from the body, or from the mind. It will come from the Son of God. All needs to be done through faith in Him. Oh let us, this day, live through Him! Let us, by His grace, live through the faith of the One who lives in us!
“Dear Lord, we know that all true life comes from Thee. May we be dead to self, and may we be alive in Christ. He lives in us! He is our life! May we never seek to live in our own strength or through our own feeble flesh, but may we always live through Christ. For He truly lives in us! Christ liveth in me! Thank you for this marvelous and heavenly truth. Help us to live in light of His life today. In Christ’s name, Amen.”
