Romans 8:39

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is abundant encouragement and infinite Christian enrichment available through this one chapter in Romans. We could talk about any of the great themes presented here! There is a great conflict in my mind over which of them to dwell on, but the Lord, I believe, has directed me to this last statement as a finality of it all. Perhaps it encapsulates almost everything that has been said in this chapter. No condemnation! We are led by the Spirit of God! We have the Spirit of adoption within us which bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God! We are joint-heirs with Christ! We are saved by hope! The Spirit maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered! All things work together for good! We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us! What wonderful concepts that lift the mind to a greater height and fill the heart with rejoicing! But the final theme of this chapter has to do with the love of God.

Paul articulates that he is persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. There are many obstacles, many opponents, many enemies in this world. But none of them can come between! The love of God cannot be mitigated, diminished, or thwarted. We may be persecuted, we may have trials, or we may have tribulations. But none of these things intervene between us and the great love of God! Nothing can separate us, whether in life or in death. Whether angels or principalities. Whether powers or rulers of this dark world. God’s love remains firm and strong. And we are safe in His care. Nothing can change it! Hallelujah! Rest today in the matchless and eternal love of God!

“Dear Father, we thank you for the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord, from which we cannot be separated for any reason or circumstance. It is the greatest force in all the universe. How we praise you for this love of God. This love of Christ! We rejoice in it and revel in it this day. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise you, Amen.”
