Psalm 8:4

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

What a wonderful psalm we have before us, which details the great works of God! Our eyes have not seen it, our ears have not fully heard, neither have we comprehended the length and breadth of the works of God. All we can really say is “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” But really, man is so small, so minute, so infinitesimally tiny in the scope of things. But God has set His own glory above the heavens! The heavens are immense and vast beyond measure! The psalmist speaks of the work of His fingers, the moon and the stars, which He has ordained. Have you ever considered the immensity of this universe, and the comparative smallness of man? What is man? He is not even a speck. The nations are as nothing, a drop of a bucket to Him. So small, so tiny, so insignificant.

But yet! But yet! So significant to Him! So major in the eyes of the Lord! So much attention has been given to mankind! He is mindful of them! And He has visited the son of man! He has sent His own Son, crowned with glory and honor, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man! This Son of God was made a little lower than the angels because of the suffering of death, made equal with the son of man. That is why He is called the Son of Man. He visited us! He came to us from Heaven! He tabernacled among men to show that God visits man. Although we are relatively tiny and insignificant in this universe, yet we are the most important creation of God, and have been given dominion over the works of His hands. And God has come to us. May we praise Him this day! Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! For God has visited man, and we are His most special creations. His greatest care and solicitude, His greatest love and concern, and His greatest sufferings were endured on behalf of mankind. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! For Thou art mindful of man!

“Father, we thank you for the glorious truth that you cared enough for man and for the son of man, that you sent your own Son for us. How wonderful that you would look upon lowly man and become one of us! Give us humility, and give us care for others as you care, that we may declare the Lord and His great works unto them. We praise you that we are in your mind. Keep our minds encouraged by this great truth, we pray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
