Philippians 4:3

And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Could there ever be a more encouraging truth than that which is contained here? Our names are in the book of life! Written down indelibly with eternal ink, engraved with the finger of God. If there is ever a scarcity of joy or a lack of consolation, then this is what we ought to remember. My name is written in Heaven! Rejoice in this! Let us exult with the joy of the Lord as we ponder this great truth. And countless, innumerable other names are also recorded there! Those women which labored with me! My fellow-laborers! They have a place secured in the book of life. And if we both are written in the same book, let us be of the same mind in the Lord.

As we think on this doctrine today, let us find nourishment of soul, and comfort of heart. Whatever may come our way this day, we have an eternity awaiting us in Heaven. It has already been reserved for us, and our names have been affixed to our inheritance. It is incorruptible and undefiled, and it fadeth not away. We know how it ends. We know where our destination is. The road ends in glory, and terminates at the throne of God. And when the names are read, I may have confidence that mine shall be there. Be edified by this, and rejoice in the Lord today!

“Dear Father, we are greatly uplifted and helped today because of this wonderful encouragement. We thank you that you have chosen to promise us Heaven, to etch our own names in the annals of glory. May we have joy from the rising of the sun to the going down thereof, because, despite any circumstances we may be called to endure, we know our eternity is secure and safe through the hand of Almighty God. We rejoice now in this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
