Psalm 119:165

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Peace is a much-sought-for commodity, and a virtue greatly desired, but rarely obtained. Many grope around, seeking to find the answer that will give peace. They live a life of turmoil in the process of looking for a life of tranquility. Serenity eludes their grasp; calmness seems out of reach. They live in upheaval, in tumult, and in turbulence of soul. But is this the intent of God? Is this the way we must live? Is it inevitable, invariable, and unavoidable? Is this the fate of all mankind? No! A thousand times, no! This is not the intent; in fact, the intent is just the opposite. God’s great intent is that we would live in peace and not in angst and turmoil. He has made the way! We must take His prescription! We must find peace where He has placed it. We must not seek our own peace, but peace with God! And here, we are given the way to peace!

Great peace have they which love Thy law! If you love God’s revealed, written words, then you can have peace. By loving it, I mean consuming it daily. Cherishing its precepts and savoring its truth. I mean you are feasting on its riches, and imbibing its wonderful freshness and nourishment. Let us, dear friends, have a renewed love for God’s Word. Because the psalmist goes further to say, “And nothing shall offend them.” Nothing! There will be no offense, perturbation, or annoyance! Nothing will distract, bother, or upend the peace that is in your heart! This will happen if you truly love His great law! Does the Scripture not say, “Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”? Does He not say that Christ “made peace through the blood of His cross”? And does He not tell us that if we take all things to Him in prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, then “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”? What then are we waiting for! Love His law, speak to Him in prayer, cast your burdens upon Him, and take in the peace that He is offering you. May this day be the day that peace floods your heart! And may nothing offend you!

“Dear Lord, we thank you for the peace that we can have in Christ. It is available for our use if we will only go to you rather than other sources to find this sublime peace. May we love your law as never before, because it truly provides the only way for lasting peace. Please help us, dear Father, through your Son Jesus Christ, to let the peace of God rule in our hearts. For Christ’s sake and in His name we pray these things, Amen.”
