Exceeding broad

Psalm 119:96

I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

As a person lives in this present world, they will immediately and most assuredly gather that perfection here is limited. Many try to make themselves perfect, only to find the task miserably impossible. Some will seek to excel beyond failure, and exceed all others in their field or discipline, only to find that such an undertaking is bound to fall to the ground. There is an end to all perfection! A person cannot be perfect enough in religion to please the Lord in His own effort! Do not the Scriptures affirm that by the works of the law there shall no flesh be justified? And, there is none that doeth good, no, not one? And does it not tell us that all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags? Every religion is an attempt at perfection. An attempt at producing good in and through ourselves. But there is an end to that. It terminates without our consent. We try but cannot. We attempt, but are unable. There is an end to all perfection!

But then what a glorious statement this—that His commandment is exceeding broad! Exceeding! Beyond all attempts of man! It exceeds and outdoes them all! It surpasses the mind, the intellect, the actions, and the attempts of mankind. His commandment negates the purposes of mankind to establish their own righteousness. It is limitless, without boundaries, and infinite! The value of it is inestimable, the joy of it eternal! It is incredibly, amazingly, tremendously, and exceedingly broad. For you see! His commandments will save your life and redeem your soul. His commandments will guide your life and direct your mind. In all things, it has no boundary or parameter. Its lateral influence can cross the breadth of all of life. Yes, perfection has a limit and has an end, but the commandments of God have no limit.

Now, my friend, may I leave you with this? Do you recognize the power and effect of His commandments? Are you obeying them, yielding to the will of the Lord, and the direction of His Word? For it will guide every facet, element, and component of life. Submit to His commandments! There truly is nothing it does not positively impact, and beneficially affect. Everything in life is increased, improved, and immeasurable enriched by its power. Some think that the Bible is only good for certain areas of life, or that it is a good book that can help you in one way or another. No, my friend! It will dramatically change every element of life if only you will listen, heed, follow, and obey! Obey His Word today! Remain faithful to His commandments. Let it impact all you say, do, and think! May it be your meditation all the day and all the night. For His commandment is exceeding broad.

Please, Lord, help us to heed your Word and never limit its effect by our negligence of it. Thank you that it is unending and exceeding broad. Help us to permit its latitude over all that we do, and to find all sufficiency and strength in your Word each day. And we thank you for helping us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
