Psalm 119:75

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

One of the most profound and glorious conclusions that a person can reach mentally and psychological is the conclusion that God is right. His judgments are right! They are true altogether. There is no unrighteousness in them. They are immaculate, impeccable, impervious to sin and evil. God is not affected by the evil influences that suffuse this globe. He is not swayed by all the hatred, bitterness, and malice of this present world. For you see, God is perfect and holy, without spot or imperfection. Therefore, if we are able to see God this way, and recognize the truth of His absolute perfection, why can we not trust Him this way for the afflictions we have in our lives? Is not every judgment He makes right?

Thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me! What a statement by the psalmist who certainly knew affliction! He was hurt, falsely accused, and betrayed. He was rejected and hated by many. But David knew that everything served as an instrument for God’s refinement and restoration. David was able to see beyond the mere feelings and emotions that come as a result of the rejection and hatred of others. He was able to fly above the normal response to affliction. He did not see troubles and trials as most people see them. They see them as instruments of destruction. David saw them as instruments of construction. Others think they are all evil, David said, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.” See verse 71. It is a diametrically different response. This response allows you to see everything as by the loving hand of God, rather than assuming only that the Devil is somehow trying to destroy you. God meant it for good!

Beloved, how do you see your affliction? Can you say today, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted”? Are you able to rise above your feelings and emotions, and see the divine good that is entailed in the trial? Ask God to give you this vision; the ability to see that God in faithfulness has afflicted you! He is graciously working and mercifully weaving all things for your good. After all, “all things work together for good to them that love God.” Oh, my friend, you can know that His judgments are right! All that He does is done in faithfulness! What a consolation! It is a heavenly and surviving comfort! It is a refreshing medicine for the sick and lost soul. He is always faithful! Remember this today, and spurn not the affliction of God. May it be a furnace of fire to make you into the beautiful, holy, spotless, pure masterpiece that He is trying to mold. And this is done by His great faithfulness!

“Father, we thank you for the great reminder that has been given us today that all you do in our lives is done because of your faithfulness and mercy. Help us to derive true and fresh comfort from this truth, renewing our trust in our loving God. We praise Thee for Thy great faithfulness that is shown us each day. Bring us through the affliction that we may be a purer and cleaner vessel for Thy glory and praise. In Christ Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

I needed this today and I am thankful He doesn’t tire of when I need these reminders. It isn’t easy waiting at times when you wait for answers to prayer.
