Romans 3:26
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
It is very easy for us to understand that we have no righteousness. Indeed, there is none that doeth good, no, not one. We are depraved in our hearts and minds, and wayward in our natural disposition. But, thank God, we can be justified! And justified by faith! We can be saved through His righteousness! For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. We can have righteousness in God’s sight through Him who took our sin upon Himself. We have no righteousness of our own. We are without goodness, utterly in need of His atonement. This is what Christ has accomplished for us through the cross. He is the just; we are the unjust. He is the righteous One; we are the unrighteous ones.
He is just and the justifier! He is the only one who can justify us, making us right in the sight of God. By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight, so the law is not the means of our justification. It is Christ alone. He is the justifier. And He is the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Have you believed in Him? Have you placed your faith in Him for your soul’s salvation? If so, you are justified through Him. Therefore, because He has justified me, I have no worry that I must justify myself by my own good works. It is all done by Him. Do you see the great blessedness of this Christian doctrine? I don’t need to justify myself, for I cannot! Therefore, as I do good works, I am not seeking to earn merit, favor, or righteousness; but I commit deeds worthy of eternal life because I already have been given the promise of eternal life. And all this is because I have been justified by faith. He is my justifier! Think on this truth today!
“Father, we want to simply thank you and praise the name of Christ because it is through Him that we have justification by faith. May we, by your grace, never take this lightly, or frustrate your grace, but stay true to your holy name. May we every day live in light of the justification that we have. We thank you that you have taken our justification upon yourself. We praise Thy name for the encouragement Thou hast provided. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
