Job 28:10
He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
In this great chapter of Job, we find an essay on wisdom. Where can it be found? Can it be valued? In fact, it cannot be valued. It is more valuable than gold, and more precious than rubies. Precious stones cannot equal it, and jewels of fine gold are valueless in comparison to it. Wisdom cannot be found in the earth, neither have the fowls of heaven discovered it. It is only with the Lord. God understands the way thereof. God knows! He has all wisdom. And in the midst of this oracular chapter on wisdom, there are certain implicit ideas that come through as the sun comes through the intervening clouds on a refreshing Spring morning. For see! God has shown us that He knows all! That He sees all! Nothing escapes His eye! His eye seeth every precious thing!
What a tremendous and stupendous truth! What a powerful and potent fact! What an exceedingly encouraging assertion! That He knows all and He sees all! And that all are precious in His sight! His eyes see it all, and all things are precious to Him. Have you thought about how precious you are to Him? The psalmist declares, “How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” See Psalm 139. They are more than can be numbered! We cannot reckon them up in order unto Him! See also Psalm 40:5. We are of great value to the Lord, yea, exceedingly precious to Him. Be reminded of this! Take it into your heart today!
Whatever it may be, my beloved, that you are in the midst of this day, that others may not see and may not know, let your mind and heart be comforted and reminded of this truth, that the Lord sees every precious thing. If He sees the fowls, and see the lions; if He cuts out the rivers, and fills the oceans, there is certainly nothing that eludes His view. He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven. Now we can rest in this truth. I am not outside of His care or touch. I am surely within His heart, and seen with His all-seeing eye. I have no need to worry that I am alone, for I am not alone! The Father is with me! He sees all. His eye seeth every precious thing!
“Father, we rejoice and praise you for this truth that we have gripped onto today. It has encouraged our souls, and cleared our minds. For we know that all is in your hands, because all is seen by you. We especially thank you that you see each of us in our disparate and diverse lives, caring for us all individually. You see it all! And we are precious to you! This thought is precious to us! We praise Thee! In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.”
