Psalm 108:1

O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

In a moving, changing, fluctuating, and vacillating age, it is time that we be fixed, unmovable, and solidly anchored. For the waves shall be boisterous, and the storm of wind shall continue to blow upon our sail. Our hearts must be fixed! Fixed on God! Fixed on His goodness! Fixed on His love and grace! Fixed on Christ, our Savior and Lord. For He is our anchor, our steadfast foundation. Without Him we are tossed hither and thither without chart or compass. We must be securely fastened to that which moveth not. Let us be fixed on that which is already fixed! Nothing worldly, fleshly, or temporary will be solid enough for your grounding. We must be steadied on that which is higher and greater, above the din and care of this life. God! He is our fixed Rock!

Oh, my friend, temptations will assail. Accusations may be hurled. The Devil himself may assault you and cast darts at your soul. You may be compassed and seemingly enclosed on all sides with the evil of this world. You may see no way out. But now! We have seen the way out! We will not place our minds or our sight on such temporary things. We will not be distracted by temptations. We will not be discouraged by the Devil’s darts of doubt. We will not wallow in self-pity because of accusations. We will not give our heart or attention to this passing world. For our hearts are fixed! We are fixed on the Lord! And therefore we will sing and give praise! We will give all the glory to the Lord! Singing and praising will take our minds off the things of this life and lift them to the things above. With God’s help today, fix your heart upon Him!

“Father, we know that there are many things in this life that seek to draw our attention away from you. Help us this day not to give attention to those things, but to keep our hearts fixed upon Thee. May we not be sidetracked or disillusioned by the opposition, the allurements, or the evil of this present world. Instead, we stay our minds on Thee! Our hearts and minds are fixed now! Thank you for helping us this day. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.”
