Job 21:15
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
Today, we ponder a magnificently important question. It is invaluable. Its import and impact is of gargantuan proportions. Who is the Almighty? What profit should we have, if we pray unto Him? The answer to the first question presents no difficultly and can be answered with considerable ease. The Almighty God is almighty! There is no limit, boundary, or constraint on His infinite power! Nothing can stop, thwart, and upend His plans. He is able to do all things. There is nothing too hard for Him. Nothing He is unable to perform. For He is the Almighty! Yes, we should serve Him! To refuse to serve Him is an enormous mistake, thoughtless, and foolish. Who else should we serve? There is no other God! There is none like Him in this earth or in Heaven to compare. There is none other for us to serve.
Another question of inestimable value is stated here. “What profit should we have, if we pray unto him?” Is there a profit is praying? Does it make any difference? Does anything good come from it? Is there benefit in praying? Oh, most certainly! Because, remember, He is the Almighty! To request something from Him is to request it from the ruler of the universe! Speaking to Him is speaking to the King of all things! It will be much improving upon us to speak with Him today, to tell Him our needs, to trust Him for all our difficulties. Who can tell whether He will hear and do? Who can tell whether He will answer? It will help us just to speak to Him. It is said, “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw night to you.” And “It is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God.” See James 4:8 and Psalm 73:28. It will do a world of good to draw near to Him this day, present your needs, and then rejoice in the glory of His presence. The peace of God that passeth all understanding will keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Oh, let us draw near to Him and pray to Him today!
“Dear Father, we thank you that through your Son we have clear access to your throne. May we draw near to you today. Thank you for the great profit and exceedingly enriching benefits that come from praying and speaking with the Almighty God. May this be the source of our strength today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
