Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Within this verse is one of the most pertinent, blessed, and timeless promises available to anyone. It has not expired, been changed, or rendered impotent. It is of full force and effect. Nothing can mitigate the wondrous power of this verse. It is for our use, our enjoyment, our pleasure, and our everlasting help and encouragement. It is to be feasted on, and imbibed into our very being. For this is God’s promise to us! God shall supply! All your needs! Every one! There is not one need that God has not included in this blessed promise. There is not a necessity that we cannot depend on the Lord to provide for. Every need! He shall supply!
Today, my dear brother or sister in Christ, what is your need? Is it a physical need or a health need? Is it a need for financial provision, or guidance in life? Is it the need for encouragement, friendships, or companionship? Then my God shall supply it! For you see, He has said that He would! He will give fellowship where companionship is needed. He will give unexpected provisions where monetary resources have dried up. He will give you the physical things that you are lacking, if they are true needs. And how will this happen? Well, our precious Savior has told us. Seek ye first the kingdom of God! Seek His righteousness above all else! And He will add all these things to you. If our needs are not met, it is because we are looking for our needs to be met more than we are seeking after the Lord. If we have forgotten the Lord, He will not meet our needs. And thank God for this! Because if the Lord only met our physical needs, what a trifling, momentary, useless God He would be! But instead, He wants to teach us that the greatest need is not physical, financial, or social. Our greatest need is the Lord Himself. And therefore, He has promised to give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him! See Luke 11:1-13. Once we find that He is the greatest fulfillment of our needs, and the most complete gratification of our wants, then we will begin to experience His true provision. Because He is our portion! He is the satisfaction of all our longings! Oh, dear friend, find everything in Him!
Therefore, as we find everything in Him, and when we find our chief desires met in Him, we will begin to see that there is never a need He does not fill. For you see, we will have access to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Because we have Christ Jesus, we have an open door to all God’s riches. We have everything in Christ. His riches are ours because for our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty might be rich! We are rich; we are filled with His fullness and glory! God shall supply all our needs! For we have Christ, and therefore Heaven and earth are at our disposal. Dear one, whatever your need is today, look to our Savior to meet the need; and if you will do that in faith, He shall supply all your need.
“Father, we thank you for this glorious promise. We know that everything is in you. Help us not to look for the fulfillment of our desires or the provisions for our needs anywhere else but in you. You have given us all things that pertain to this life! You have given us the Son, and with Him, all other things besides! We have no want or lack. But when we do have need, whether earthly, physical, mental, spiritual, or any other, we look to you and none other to fulfill it; for we are confident in your Divine promise that you shall supply every need. We praise your holy name for this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
