Job 14:14
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
It is a universal and undeniable truth that man shall die. We shall all likewise pass from this life through means of the door of death if we do not meet the Lord in the air at His coming. Man shall die! But when this transition is accomplished, shall he live again? Or shall he remain deceased? In the grave, he shall physically remain, his body consumed and his features no more. But that is not the real man. The real man is the soul, into which was breathed by God the breath of life. The soul continues on. It shall live again! And for those that believe, it shall be a greater life! A fuller existence! A most wonderful state of being! He shall live again in the other world. He shall live with the Lord, changed and glorified to live forever in His presence. But I must first live all the days of my appointed time. God has set the bounds that I cannot pass. I will live as long as He has appointed, with no more or fewer days than He will allow. And then. And then! My change will come! Whether it be in death, or in Christ’s coming, that change will come! And I will wait for that day with great anticipation and expectation. And my expectation shall not be destroyed nor perish! It shall be realized in the great and monumental change of my body. I shall be resurrected to life forever in a perfect state, and in a heavenly place. My change will come!
And this change—what shall it be like? This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Death will be swallowed up in victory! In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump! The dead in Christ shall rise first! And we shall be changed! We shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord! I must wait patiently for this day, knowing of a surety that it is in sight. In the Lord’s impeccable timing, I will be transformed from an earthly state to a heavenly state, from a corruptible state to an incorruptible, and from a temporal dwelling to an eternal home! This is our hope; this is our rejoicing! Wherefore comfort one another with these words! This can bring every Christian comfort and edification—knowing the change that is coming. It will come, my beloved, but we must live all the days of our appointed time, and then the change will come. No better change has ever been effected than the change that will take place that day. Yes, when we die, we shall live again! And if the Lord sees fit, we shall not die, but be changed instead! What a glorious day!
“Lord, we thank you for this great promise of our change that will occur one day whether in death or in the transition of your coming. Help us as we live our days to complete all of our allocated time with joy, longing and looking for the change. May this prospect be one of encouragement. May it be an anchor for our souls, both sure and steadfast. May we not despair in the sorrows or discouragements of life, because we have this truth now in sight. Thank you that you will change us one day, and we shall be incorruptible, sinless, pure, and like our Savior. May we patiently live for that day. We thank you for this promise. May it enlighten and uplift every one of your children today that ponders this hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
