Job 9:33

Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

A daysman! A go-between! A judge! Someone to plead! All these things Job desired, and did not seem to possess. He wanted someone to stand in the gap, to be a mediator on his behalf! He desired someone to come between his sinful condition and the holiness of a perfect God. We cannot come together in judgment, Job says, because of the great disparity between them. God is perfect, he imperfect. God is holy, he unholy. God is clean, he unclean and impure. God is in Heaven, He on earth. How would he reach Him? How would they ever come to an agreement, a compact, a league? How would he ever bridge the infinite gap? He needed someone to come between. He needed a daysman!

And yet! And yet! We do now have a Daysman; we do now have a Mediator! We do have a judge, an Advocate, and it is Jesus Christ the righteous! For He is the propitiation for our sins! He is the one mediator between God and men! There is no other mediator—no other daysman! No one else to come between, to plead my cause, to argue on my behalf. But now that Christ has died, yea rather, is risen again, I have someone to speak for me! Who is he that condemneth? No one can condemn me! Christ speaks on my behalf! We have an Advocate with the Father, the Great Intercessor of our souls. He stands in the gap, He speaks for us, He is the Daysman!

Oh, my beloved, have you come to God today through Christ? He is your Mediator, your High Priest, your great Advocate. He is able to save you to the uttermost! He is able to hear your prayers! You can come boldly to Him! For He is your Daysman, who shall lay His hand upon you both! One hand is upon God, and another upon you! Have you found the joy of speaking to the Daysman? He is always available, always ready to plead on your behalf. Thank God today that you have a Daysman!

“Dear Father, we praise and thank you with all of our hearts and beings for this Mediator that we have, the interceding Daysman that comes to our aid. How could we render the thanksgivings of our hearts? We have no fear before you. Our sins have been expunged, forgiven, and expiated. We now have peace! We have been made right in the sight of God! Because we have a Daysman. He has taken His eternally loving hands, and has laid them upon us both, and justified us in God’s sight. What could be better? Thank you for Christ! In His name we pray, Amen.”
