New every morning!

Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Every human being at some time or another in his life will desire the opportunity to start over again. To have a new beginning! To commence all over again! To forget the past, and embark on the future. To be forgiven, so that he may begin the day anew without the failures and faults of yesterday hanging over his head. He desires that he may not be weighed down by his mistakes, and instead be freed by throwing the burdens away and walking lighter. And this, and this! This is exactly what the Lord has given us! He has provided that we may have a new beginning, a fresh start, a clean and new day! And this day is incipient with possibilities, because it is not yesterday. It is full of potential and anticipation. This day will only begin gloomy if we are transferring yesterday’s events to the accounts of this day. But God has made it so that our account may be clean. It is ready to be filled. It is new every morning!

And how is this so?Because “great is Thy faithfulness!” “The Lord is my portion!” “His compassions fail not!”It is all new because the Lord has given us new mercies for this day, new compassions, and new faithfulness. God seems to forget yesterday on our behalf. Is there sin from yesterday that has not been cleansed, and has remained untouched? Then that filth must be removed, and the iniquity forgiven. For that will hold us back from this brand new day. But as long as the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, has cleansed us from all sin, we have nothing to think on concerning yesterday. Nothing to speak of! It is forgiven! It is a new day. Every morning is new!

And now, my precious friend, have you begun this day anew with the Lord? Have you had communion with the Lord? It will refresh you and start everything over again. It will ease the failures of yesterday, and give you a clean plate to fill with God’s great store of goodness and mercies. Take His mercies today! Enjoy them! Feed on them! Take no thought for yesterday, or for tomorrow! Feast on His faithfulness, compassions, and mercies this very day. For they are new every morning!

“Father, we thank you that your faithfulness is truly great every day, and your mercies are new every morning. Help us to avail ourselves of what is available to us. Please do forgive and cleanse us of any sin, and blot out all our transgressions from yesterday. And give us a new day to be used for your glory. With all our hearts we thank you that this new day has been given us. Help us to work while it is day, and fill ourselves with your great joy and peace today. Thank you for your mercies, compassion, and faithfulness that has already begun this morning. In Jesus’ name we pray and thank you, Amen.”
