James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
It would be impossible for us to overestimate the power of prayer, or fully measure its effect. For sick bodies can be cured, hardened hearts can be softened, and inconvertible lives can be changed. Incorrigible personalities can be transformed into loving saints of God. But how does this happen? And whereby can this work be accomplished? It is only through prayer. It is through the effectual and fervent prayer of a righteous man. It is through the prayer of faith! For the prayer of faith shall save the sick! And the Lord shall raise him up! His sins shall be forgiven him! Oh, my dear brother! Oh, my dear sister in the Lord! Do not underestimate what prayer has the capacity to do! Its power is unlimited, for its God is equally unlimited. Its effect is unstoppable and immeasurable because its God cannot be stopped, and His might cannot be measured. It is of incommensurable opportunity, because nothing else touches the heart of God as prayer does.
Is any afflicted? They are to pray. We are to pray for one another, that we may be healed. This is something that only prayer can do. Certain healings cannot be effected any way else. Physicians may be stunned into stupefaction and rendered ignorant to help a diseased person. But then, we have another power to wield. It is not a physical, mortal, and tangible power. It is supernatural, unearthly, and heavenly. It is the power of God. It is the ability to bring God into the problem. It is the ability that we have as Christian men and women, to leave the realm of the earthly, and soar to the throne of God. And then! And then! God can do all things, for nothing shall be too hard for the Lord! Getting the Lord involved is liable to change all things around. Invoking the power of God revokes the power of the devil and of sin. For you see, every sickness and every disease has its root in the garden of Eden. Therefore, it is bound to the realm of the natural, cursed, and corrupted world. But who said we had to remain in such a state? Can we not receive physical healing from the God who supernaturally saved our souls, and purchased eternal life for us? Why can we not be released from the power of sickness and disease by the same God who liberated us from the sting of death and the victory of the grave. Yes! We can be healed, for the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!
Now, may I ask you? Are there situations you think are hopeless? Problems that seem beyond solution? Are there souls that seem to be snared, without hope of freedom and change? Bring it to the Lord! Pray in faith! Pray in fervency! Pray more than you have done before! Pray and fast! Seek Him at another level, because the Lord has said that He will hear us; but some things come by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Make it a new day of praying, seeking, and trusting the illimitable power of God. There is nothing like it! Let us not have small faith but large faith! For nothing is impossible with Him! The prayer of faith shall save the sick! The prayer of faith, it means, can save anything or anyone! It can solve any thing that is insolvable. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!
“Father, we know that Thou canst do all things, and nothing is too hard for Thee. We pray that Thou wouldst remove all unbelief and give us full faith to believe. Help us to believe that we can avail much with Thee through our faithful and fervent prayers. May you do supernatural works this day for Thy glory, and through our prayers. And we shall praise Thee alone for it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
