Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
What a tremendous scene is described in this chapter! We see Mystery Babylon is being revealed to John as the city reigning over the kings of the earth, drunk with the blood of the saints and martyrs, and then decimated by him who was to be her friend. The great beast who gives her power to begin with turns on her, along with ten of her kings, and destroys her, making her desolate and naked. Many have conjectured concerning who the great whore is, and who the beast is. It is outside the scope of my interest to deal with that discussion at this time. However, it is worth pointing out that the beast mentioned here is very similar to the dragon in Revelation 12 and the beast in Revelation 13, with his seven heads and ten horns. This beast is no doubt the great Antichrist who will ultimately reign for a time and then be defeated forever by the King of kings, and go into perdition forever.
But we see how these ten kings will give their strength to the beast and make war with the Lamb and the saints that are with Him. And the glorious truth is revealed to us here that the Lamb shall overcome them! Praise the Lord! He shall be victorious! He is already victorious, but His ultimate and final victory will not be visualized until the end. For He is Lord of lords, and King of kings! The enemy will fight Him. The devil and His comrades will engage in hot battle, and give all their menial strength and power to overcome the Lamb. But they will not have the victory! They will fail! They will lose! They will be once and for all defeated! They will fall to the most miserable depths of failure and loss! They will never be seen any more for ever! The threat shall be removed. The fiend shall be forever eliminated. He shall be taken out of the earth, and all his angels with him shall be done away with.
Now, my friend, it is high time to rejoice; to worship the Lamb that was slain. For He is Lord of lords! He is King of kings! They that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. I am of that number! I am on the winning side! I am called of Him to be victorious! We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us! We must not be defeated, discouraged, downcast, despondent, or distracted. For we shall win with Him. We shall be triumphant with the Lord. The Devil and his hosts are not the victors; they shall not prevail over the Lamb and His saints. We shall prevail, for we belong to the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. Do not think that the Devil is winning, or that God is losing. The Devil may have a short period of apparent victory, but it shall be soon squashed. The Lord shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. Let us keep our minds, eyes, and hearts on this stupendous and grand principle. Let us us keep our hearts fixed on the King of kings and the Lord of lords, for with Him we shall conquer.
“Father, we thank you that we are on the winning side. We thank you that we shall defeat the Devil one day because you are our Captain. Help us not to be discouraged with the weight of the Devil’s small and brief triumph in this present world. But may we remind ourselves, with your help, that we serve the King. We are excitedly anticipating that day when all victory shall be realized! Keep us encouraged in the mean time as we fight the good fight of faith. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
