Revelation 7:15

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

What an exquisitely wonderful passage is before us! Words cannot encompass the beauty of it. It is inexpressible. It is perfect and holy. It is of sublime beauty! That God would dwell with man in His eternal home! That He would lead us to living fountains or waters! That He would wipe away all tears from our eyes! See verses 16-17. This is the destiny of believers! This is the hope of the righteous! This is that wonderful future for which we long. Our hearts groan within us, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our bodies.

But the great truth before our eyes upon which I am pondering this morning is found in verse 15. And it is that His servants are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. This is what we will do forever! Because we have washed our robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, we shall serve Him forever in His heavenly temple! This will be our joy and privilege, as all sin or desires for the contrary will be passed away. We will want to do nothing but serve Him day and night! Dear friend, do you want a taste of Heaven, a “foretaste of glory divine?” This will come by faithful and unceasing service to the Lamb! There is no joy in this life that will ever be realized that is greater than the joy we receive from serving our Savior! The Lamb that was slain for our salvation! The One with whom we will dwell for ever!

Today is a day of service! This is what we will do for eternity. And we will do it will great joy! Let us do it even now faithfully and constantly. Let us do it with a cheerful heart! Let us do it with dedication and zeal. For we shall serve Him day and night forever in His temple.

“Father, we come to you this day with thanksgiving for the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world, who bled and died for us, and has washed us from our sins in His own blood. We greatly long for that eternal day when we shall serve Thee without end. May we begin our service today. May we find joy, contentment, satisfaction, and fulfillment in serving the Lamb of God day and night, for this will be our privilege forever in Thy presence. Thank you for the house of God, which is your temple. But we are reminded that we ourselves are the temple of the Lord! May this body be used for nothing unclean, unworthy, or displeasing, but may this temple of mine be used to serve Thee only! In Jesus’ loving name we pray. Amen.”
